I come from a political background and am often asked how I made the transition from politics to small business consulting? As Thomas Mann wisely said “Everything is politics” and throughout my career, I have continued to discover the extreme truth in that statement.
When it all comes down to it, political campaigns are about relationship building. About connecting with your consituency and convincing them that you not only understand their needs, but will represent and lobby for them on a national level. To be a successful candidate you need to gain the trust and support of your constituents, reach them on their level and convince them that their lives would be better with you than without you.
The exact same holds true for business. So today the question you need to ask yourself is- Would your customers elect you? What are you doing on a daily basis to win their support, trust and reliance.
Afterall, they don’t call it a ‘marketing CAMPAIGN” for nothing!
