Last week I wrote about the development of FourSquare Day and why it was an opportunity waiting to happen for your business. Today, I’m proud to announce that this little idea that started in the creative mind of Dr. Nate Bonilla-Warford (Optometrist and Social Media Superhero) has become an international epidemic. FourSquare has proclaimed April 16th as the Official FourSquare Day and people around the world are in the midst of planning how they can be a part of the fun.
This series of events, my friends, is a wonderful example of the power of social media when used correctly…and what makes it so cool. Social media used as a marketing tool gives the average person tremendous power. No longer is the world of pr and communications dictated by those with the most media connections, friends in big places or businesses with the biggest advertising budget! Today the world is your oyster, IF you know how to utilize the resources in front of you accurately, uniquely and consistently!
Exciting, huh?
So once again, I’m challenging you to take advantage of the opportunity the new Official FourSquare Day offers you. I’m reposting the action steps I laid out in my March 23rd post introducing the idea
1) Sign Up on FourSquare (if you aren’t already)
2) Join the FourSquare Day Fan Page on Facebook
3) Promote your participation on Twitter (if you are an active twitter user) with the hashtag #4sqday
4) Ask Questions! If you are new to this and want to take advantage of this opportunity but a bit overwhelmed by it all, feel free to email me, leave a comment below or on the FourSquare fan page
5) Spread the word! The more people involved the more fun this will be and the better for your business!
I’m also going to make the following two offers…..are you ready for this peeps…read carefully!
1) If you are a business owner/manager that wants to get involved in FourSquare day but not quite sure what the best way is for you to personally and uniquely utilize this opportunity, Flying Pig Communications will offer free consulting to help you design a ‘FourSquare Day’ marketing campaign that will best extend your brand and maximize the ROI of your participation.
2) I have temporarily added a tab on this site specifically for FourSquare Day. If you are a participating business, email me your FourSquare Day offer/reward and I will post it under this tab for everyone to see (organized by State). I will also write up a summary blog on April 13th, giving a recap of all the participating businesses that have been added to the FourSquare Day tab. This will be sent out to all of my followers as well as disseminated along the social media channels.
Ok, peeps…ready, set, go…Let’s Fly!
